Relevance of African Socio-Cultural Values in Curbing Corruption in Public Procurement

Abstract

The paper aims at determine the relevance of African socio cultural values in curbing corruption in public procurement. The hypotheses tested in this study were adopted from review of literature in a cross sectional study. Confirmatory Factor analysis was used to confirm, reduce and simplify data, in regression models and test the existence of well-defined dimensions of African socio-cultural values in curbing corruption in public procurement. The empirical findings indicate that of the three variables which are social values, cultural value and self efficacy are significant factors in influencing transparency, accountability and ethical compliances in curbing corruption in public procurement. The implication of the findings indicate that for curbing corruption in public procurement to be improved, focus needs to be placed on inclusion of socio cultural values in public procurement reforms.
